This programme aims to train and disseminate knowledge and know-how to a diverse group of people: those working for the food industries, government, research or non-profit organisations and in the agriculture food chain who carry responsibility for the control of different aspects of food safety in Hong Kong, Mainland China and other countries.
Scholarship
Entrance Scholarship and Distinction and Merit Scholarships are awarded to the outstanding students.
Field Trip
Visit to food manufacturing companies in Hong Kong or Guangdong will be arranged.
Career Opportunities
Graduates will be equipped with a solid knowledge base in chemical, life and analytical science to support their career developments in food analysis and food safety management and further education in related fields.

This programme aims to train and disseminate knowledge and know-how to a diverse group of people: those working for the food industries, government, research or non-profit organisations and in the agriculture food chain who carry responsibility for the control of different aspects of food safety in Hong Kong, Mainland China and other countries. The major focus of the programme content will be on new and emerging issues within the field of food safety and on recent developments in analytical approaches to monitor food quality, food additives and food microbes in order to protect consumers. Students will also learn the concept of risk assessment, hazard analysis and the ISO22000 food safety management system so that they are trained to manage and minimize food related hazards for compliance with Hong Kong legislation and Codex Alimentarius guidelines.

By a combination of taught courses, structured laboratory work and supervised research, graduates gain in-depth theoretical principles and applications of modern biological and chemical methods towards solving problems of food analysis and food safety issue. Graduates will be equipped with a solid knowledge base in chemical, life and analytical science to support their career developments in food analysis and food safety management and further education in related fields. They will also become competent in the assessment and management of food safety issues.
